Within one structure, two tracks of focus are offered at the Institute:
• CLASSICAL TRACK— for dancers with a primary focus on classical ballet. This track includes a higher frequency of classical ballet classes, as well as additional classical repertoire and partnering work at the appropriate stages. Additional genres are integrated to support the versatility expected of classical dancers beyond training.
• CONTEMPORARY TRACK— for dancers training across multiple genres applying the same technical framework to support development toward performance, creation, and broader professional pathways.
Both tracks operate within the same training system and are held to the same technical expectations, with classical training forming the foundation of the Institute.
Training groups are structured by age and level, with standard entry beginning at age 12+ and age 11 in some cases.
Placement is determined by the Director and may include classes across multiple groups to support each dancer’s development and training needs.
Training groups are generally divided into ages 12–14 and 15+.
NOTE: Students who are not yet at Institute entry age may continue to enter through the existing CRD core pathway for a limited period. This pathway remains in place through the 2027–2028 season. After this point, all new enrollment will take place at the Institute level.
•Training at CRD is structured as an integrated system rather than a collection of individual classes.
•Classes are held early evening usually between 4:15-7:15pm with daytime classes available for some levels.
•Students typically train 5–6 days per week depending on level and individual needs.
•Weekly structure balances load, recovery, and progression.
